Day 11, Sept 30th

Got up just before 10 this mornin to avail of the free pancakes in the hostel. They have them every mornin from 7 till 10, but i'm usually still asleep at that stage. Watched the Chelsea/Villa game then in the tv room of the hostel with a few of the lads. Wanted to see the Liverpool game but kickoff was 8am. Turns out the Premiership games are easy enough to see over here, it's just the time difference that makes things awkward. It was good to catch up on the footie after not seeing any for a few weeks.

Didn't really get up to much else during the day, again can't really remember what I did. But that night there was a festival (Nuit Blanche) on throughout the city that started at midnight and ended at sunrise. It was something different so I wanted to get out and see some of the events. And it was all free so that's always good. I met up with some of the Irish gang in the hostel first for drinks to get us set for a long night ahead. Drinking on the streets over here is a major no-go so we had to get it all done before heading out. A Swiss couple moved into my room just for the night and they were good fun so I asked them to join us. Turns out they were pretty crazy and a great laugh.

We had a list of stuff that was on throughout the city but there was over a hundred events going on so we just decided to head towards the University and check out what was going on over there. Turned out to be a good call as there was loadsa people around up for a good laugh. We hooked up with some Canadian lads and a nice American girl who doubled as our tour guides. That was a bit of a life saver as we wouldn't have had a clue where to go otherwise. Especially in the middle of the night.

We did a load of stuff, too much to mention here but I took a shit load of pics and have attached some below. We did art galleries, light shows, dance shows, games fun and this cool fog show. All a bit crazy but again, great fun. Met some right nutty chicks out that night. We went as long as we could but come 7am and I was fit for bed so headed back to the hostel.

In this area they had dressed up all the trees with fancy glitter and had loadsa pieces of paper hanging off the branches. Each with something different written on them. Very fantastical.

Fog Show

They had quite a large area completely covered in fog. Spooky city.

Time to crash the University

A disco. In a tent. In a room. What ever next.

Des attempts breakdancing. But instead gets man raped by some stranger.

Me + empty room + camera self timer = genius.

Purdy colours

No photos allowed in here. Whoops

Don't ask.

Game Time

How every night should end..... Giant Twister
